Jennifer Smith offered perspective on grantor trusts and the value of mentors in 2021

WILMINGTON, DE (April 22, 2021)McCollom D’Emilio Smith Uebler LLC partner Jennifer Smith spoke at the 33rd Annual RPTE National CLE Conference virtually on April 22 and 23. Smith presented two panels, one in the Trust and Estate Division and one in the Joint Division.

Smith served as Program Chair, Moderator and Speaker with Speaker Kristen A. Curatolo on Grantor Trust Reimbursement Statutes. Smith and Curatolo discussed recent developments and compared the grantor trust reimbursement statutes that have been enacted in six states.  They also discussed strategies for migrating trusts to take advantage of such statutes and how to avoid potential pitfalls.

In her second panel, Smith served as Program Chair, Moderator and Speaker, leading George Bernhardt, Bobbie Larkin, and Elizabeth Lee in conversation on the value of mentorship.  The panel discussed formal and informal mentoring techniques and the value of mentorship at all stages of one’s career.

The annual conference was hosted by the Real Property Trust and Estate Section of the American Bar Association.
