Wilmington, DE — October 25, 2019 – McCollom D’Emilio Smith Uebler LLC partner, Jennifer Smith moderated a discussion on North Carolina Department of Revenue v. Kimberly Rice Kaestner 1992 Trust with Reed J. Hollander of Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP as the panelist.

During their panel discussion, titled “Kaestner: A View from the Trenches,” Smith and Reed discussed the Supreme Court’s unanimous decision in North Carolina Department of Revenue v. Kimberly Rice Kaestner 1992 Trust and the state tax implications of the decision, as well as the estate planning ramifications. In addition, they highlighted the key takeaways from a boots-on-the ground vantage point of the primary author of the American College of Tax Counsel’s amicus brief.

This meeting, hosted by Alston & Bird LLP of Washington, D.C., was the 40th annual NASBTS Conference. The conference hosted a variety of prominent speakers and recognized leaders in the federal, state and local tax fields, as well as estate planning.
